Sound Design       Music       Engineering

As a graduate of Gateway School of Recording at Kingston University, I began my professional audio career in a Music Production Company in London in 1991. As the sole Engineer, I was responsible for recording and mixing commercials, TV idents and film cues for advertising agencies, national and international broadcasters and film production companies. This was the era of 24-track tape, mastering to manually-spliced quarter-inch and Fed-Ex-ing U-matics to the far reaches for approval. Before long, I began to get involved in programming and composition leading to a couple of cinema ads and some library music for EMI.

After 12 years working on all manner of musical genres with the country's top session musicians and having the opportunity to assist as well as produce sessions at iconic studios such as Abbey Road, Angel, Air Lyndhurst, Whitfield Street, Snake Ranch, CTS etc., the time came for the company to wind down as its owner made the gradual move towards retirement.

As a freelancer, I then did some session work for a London-based Record Producer, working with artists including the Sugarbabes, Jennifer Rush, Russell Watson, and Máire Brennan (Clannad). During this time, I also recorded several audiobooks for Random House Publishers.

At about this time, having relocated to Surrey, I began working with event management companies for various corporate clients providing soundscapes, stings and music beds and mixes from my personal production room. Many equipment upgrades later, I am currently using Apple Macs, Apogee Converters, Dynaudio and Genelec Monitoring and AKG Mics to record voiceovers, produce and record radio plays/podcasts for various Production Companies, Writers and Comedians for touring and Edinburgh Fringe Shows and BBC radio broadcast. Recent clients include Made in Manchester, Gloaming Productions and Dan Snow's HistoryHit TV. As well as recording many of the pods and editing over 500 of Dan's and History Hit's podcasts over the past 6 years, I've also written the theme tunes to some of the podcasts on the HistoryHit channel.

If you think I might be able to help you with your project, edit or event, I'm all ears..
